Friday Files are all about the journalling experience- In this weeks project Mira has "changed" it up, showing you how simplistic, yet elegant your project and journalling experience can be and how quick it can be to insert your files into your life album. The point being, to emphasise getting the words written and the experience/thoughts stored. 

Sometimes journaling can take a few minutes, others will take some considerable time, either way you will be leaving your stamp and legacy on crafting a better life.

365 days will make a change

 

Once upon a time Robert Baden-Powell said: Leave this world a little better than you found it. Beautiful motto to consider changes.

I was always sure that I am able to live by this thought, fight for it! But when You get older and older the optimism decrease.

Why?

Because whenever You want to leave the world better You must start from Your own little life. And the life is all against it.

First You try not to lie to Your parents about Your bad behaviour, then You try not to cheat on tests in school, then You have to fight for Your future, for Your career, and at the end of the day there is no place to be good for the big world. No space to make a difference!

This was my first thought.

But then i found out something else...

When I met my husband i was totally different person. I fell in love and it positively changed me! I became more cheerful, more grateful and it was all because i truly felt i was loved, fully accepted and appreciated!

So... When You can't make a big difference for Your own life and by Your own hands, why not to make a difference for people that You're surrouded by? Why not to let love do the whole thing?

In one moment I realized that changing the world is all about giving love and not expecting anything in return. You can try to donate money for poor people, You can volonteer and fight for a great cause, but You still have to remember to be good person in a simple everyday relations. Otherwise all of it doesn't matter. Be a good person for Your husband, children, friends, and be a good person for stragers that You meet across the street.

And this i think will make a difference. All because a little piece of love can change a big big world.

Essence Creative Team | 5 on the fifth

Hi and thank you for your company today.

 

It's no secret we are passionate about documenting our lives,-we wanted to give you a glimpse into our everyday, ordinary lives, hopefully sprinkled with some extraordinary "things" that you may find interesting. 

Photography is one way we tell our stories. We'd like to invite you to join us on this journey and document your lives by taking 5 photos on the fifth day of each month throughout 2014.

This month 5th was super short but quite fun! I started my day with work (strange, huh?) but i found some time between duties to create Little origami Fox. Isn't he Cutie? 
After work P and I met our friend- first time after veeeery long time we went for a late walk. There is this strange performance in the City Center running right now and we really enjoyed It. Especially this flowerish table! We finished the date in a pub. Quite strange for us in the middle of working days, but we both were glad we did it :) chill out season is formally opened!

After the house inspection, I finally got to put my feet up with a cup of tea and the brand new Alphabet Family Journal, which had arrived on Monday.  It’s a brand new publication by an Instagram friend of mine. It’s a brilliant snapshot of Australian family life.

 

 

 

Thursday is shopping day, so hubby and I headed out to the supermarket. It just so happens that our local supermarket is located right next to a giant hardware store. Bunning’s is a siren call to Gardner like my husband and a DIYer such as myself and we did not leave empty handed. Hubby got new fence posts and chicken wire to extend our veggie patch and I got purple carrots to grow in said patch.

 

 

 

Shortly after shopping and unpacking the groceries, we headed out for a walk around the lake. I feel the cold right down to the bones if I sit still too long, so it was nice go get out and get some exercise. It’s a little hard to see in this photo, but you can just make out the 4 giant cranes that punctuate the Bendigo skyline. Our city is currently building a new hospital and the cranes can be seen from nearly everywhere in the city.

 

 

 

For dinner hubby and I tried a new recipe – olive, onion and anchovy tart. I enjoyed my tart with balsamic baby greens. Hubby is a bit more of a purest and was happy to forego anything healthy looking. Both versions got 2 thumbs up.

My fifth was truly an awful one that didn't involve hair brushing and barely involved being awake, so I chose instead to focus on my perfect day that happened two days prior. On that day, I wrote down a list of what my perfect day would be like, and I decided to live it out. I called the office to divert my calls, worked from home and ticked off each Perfect Day item one by one.

 

My Perfect Day started with a walk in the park. Now, I really don't like outside so I'm not even why I like it, let alone why it's on my perfect day. But I really do, and I really enjoy having my dog and a podcast with me. I like it so much that I sat in the traffic to get to it nice and early. I enjoyed a solid half hour of being the only person in the park besides the security guard. The fresh, cold air encouraged my lungs and brain to wake up.

 

Good coffee and poached eggs are on my Perfect Day too. If it's at a dog-friendly cafe then that's all the better. Griffin sits on my lap and has a nap while I sip, nibble, and write in my ideas Moleskine. I did try and order a dessert after breakfast (since Perfect Days do not come around often), but they only had pastries.

 

I get home and do some art journaling. I am loving art journaling because of the amount of gold and glitter you can throw at it. With a blank notebook from Typo, I have the perfect starting point.

 

I made a note-to-self desktop as a reminder that I can create my perfect day any day. I have the ability. Sure, I'm not able to fly to Berlin on the daily, but I sure can incorporate the little things that make me happy. My wallpaper states "Caylee, you choose what you want your life to be like" and I think I'm going to be making more of these for myself.

 

After the excitement of my husband coming home, which will always be my perfect moment of every day, after date night, and after delicious food, I get into a bath. It's winter in South Africa which is the perfect excuse to heat myself up each night. I love the little ears that watch over me.

Hello there again everyone!

Today I will be sharing one of the many

reasons why I scrapbook/create.

 

Quite often I think about all the days of

life gone by and how much our memory can

really recall.

I personally would like to remember tons

more than what I do now.

When I go back to look at

projects of old especially layouts they

take me right back to that moment almost

as if I am able to rewind my life.

I can remember what it was I was feeling, where

I was, and what was going on in thought.

It is such a marvelous thing to preserve memories and

that is one of the many reason I scrapbook.

 

 

 

An assortment of products were used to create this page.

Pattern play is one of the most fun things for

me to do on a project.

I savor every little bit and piece that 

I possibly can to create a cluster of  art.

Currently I am really into arrows and butterflies!

These butterflies from Ruby Rock-It are gorgeous!

 

This is one the most brilliant segments to

share with you all. It is a pleasure to be able

to express why we do what we do.

Tuesday Tutorial with Kaka

 

 Hi everyone! Today I will show you a beautiful paper flower, that you can make with punches,  Cricut or Cameo.

 

It's so easy!

 I started with three punches of the same flower.

 

 I cut three flowers of each size..

 

 

 

 With wipes, I watered each flower

 

 

 

 

 And then I going to make layers with the flowers, until they form a single flower!

 Make a hole in the middle of them and put a brad. And after I start kneading each flower towards the center.

 

 After each layer is wrinkled and dry and start to open the flower.

 

And here is my project using the flower!

Monday Blues Inspiration | Erin Yamabe

Hello Ruby Rock-it Fans, and Happy Monday! Sometimes, Mondays come and have us feeling like Sunday could use a few more hours in the day...

For this segment, I focused on a love of mine at the moment...Mason Jars!

 

They are sprinkled all around our home, in various sizes and colors...and this photo just made me so happy!

I have fallen in love with this sweet stamp set from Fiskars, with Mason Jar love.

Honoring Dad | Father's Day project with Jenifer

 

Hi this is Jenifer here with you today to share a fun special project for Fathers Day.  Every year I try to create a layout with all of the kids together for a shadow box frame for Fathers Day.  Something he can have that isn't to girly but still classy.

Since this is going to be displayed I didn't necessarily want the journaling displayed. To solve the issue I used one of the Fundamental cards as my mat for my picture, that can be opened and read.

 

 

 

 I love how this layout turned out and with the wonderful classic colors of the Year in Review I was able to get this look very easily.

 

 

 

 

For this big flower I used some of the Fundamentals Vellum.  I used a tutorial from here and I am loving how it turned out and will definitely be making more of these flowers in my future, so be prepared.

Beyond The Page | Altered Magnet clips with Beckie

 

Good morning Ruby Rock-it fans!  

Summer is really starting to show here and we have lots of little birds popping in to say hello in to our garden so I was inspired to make some organiser pegs for my kitchen using a wonderful set of Fundamental decoupage.

I have had these pair of over sized pegs in my 'one day I'm going to do something with this' box for what seems like ages!

2 Large Pegs

 

I cut some strips of the pink Fusion paper and added them to the large sides of the peg and added it with Thermoweb tape.

 

 

 

I decorated them with some of the stunning vintage decoupage, lace and sticky hearts. 

 

 

The little fundamental alphabet stickers where perfect for adding what each peg would be holding.  

The pegs have a small hole on the back so it will be easy to hang on the walls.  You could also use some magnetic tape and turn them into magnets for you fridge!

For today's project, I've used a Fundamental card as my mini album cover. Instead of using the card as it is, I painted it with some water colors and then rubbed brown ink all over to allow the embossed images to stand out.

Creative Cards with Pattie

 

 

Hi everyone.  Pattie here to share a couple of cards I created using the beautiful Bella! Year in Review range.  It's that time of year for Father's Day and Graduations.  I have a very special someone who is graduating this year and I decided this range was perfect for cards and invites!

 

 

 

 

 

I made this fun card with a 3D star.  I used the Bella! bling to create some sparkle trailing from the star- everything is better with sparkle!

 

 

 

Here's a close-up.  I'll have a tutorial later this month showing you just how easy it is to create one yourself!

 

 

 

I also made this money-holder card.  I think any young adult would agree that there is no better gift than the gift of cash.

 

 

 

with just a couple of score lines and a few folds, I made this card with a slide out cash holder. I love how the Bella! Buckelz adds just the right amount of pizzazz.
