Hi All,
We have a lot happening on the essence front- never a dull moment. Take Two segment explores traditional scrapbooking, otherwise know as just "scrapbooking" !
Each month, we will post a page sketch template and 1 or 2 members of the essence creative team [ECT] will create a traditional scrapbook page using the essence paper collections and a whole lot of other goodies to make it pop. [including a supply list and any tips, techniques and thoughts].
This month as a bonus we have added an extra template, a simple rotation of the original.
Aimee and Mira have created sensational take two eye candy for you this month.

And a few words about my project:
“Life is beautiful” is a Layout about the most incredible moment in my life – the picture shows our Wedding, when P and I were putting the rings on our fingers. I wanted this layout to be simple, soft and very elegant, and I think the goal was accomplished. But of course I wouldn’t be myself if I hadn’t add splashes here and there. I hope that You like it, cause I wanted to share with You how these are done. It’s a small lesson of mixed media for those who are not really into paints, mediums, etc. So… When I need my splashes to looksoft and pale I always use the chalk inks mixed with water. I put the ink on the smooth surface and with littlebrush I add a bit of water. When the ink and water are mixed I just use the brush to splash. Piece of cake –don’t You think? Sometimes I mix a few inks together and it works perfect! What do You think – does it soundfun for You? Feel free to try it!
Hugs,

It’s no secret I take A LOT of food pictures. Baking was my passion long before scrapbooking. As a baker, I am always on the lookout for pattern paper that will coordinate with brown photos. Empire Bébé does that so perfectly. I know it’s a baby collection, but no one said you had to have a baby to use it. Shall we have a look at my take on the sketch?
I had been thinking about how to tackle this sketch for near on a week. I knew I wanted to make the picture on the right look like it was hanging. Not a difficult task given the beautiful finishing gems and a bow I had put aside from a Christmas present. I am without a doubt truly and madly in love with that alphabet paper, so it was given a staring role.
In the sketch you will see three small elements to the bottom right. I liked the idea, but when it came to execution, it unbalanced the page so I moved them over and the journaling took form.
The left hand boarder is made up of various Empire Bébé Pattern and Journaling cards. I Love, Love, Love the pattern cards – Maps, Stars, Stripe, Scallops and triangles - All so very classic. I took the opportunity to add a little more information and the date to a journaling card. It also helped to break up the pattern cards a bit.
Originally, I printed two photos with the intention of only using the one that best matched the paper, but as I was in the process of shuffling papers I noticed how well the cookbook photo looked in the stack of papers on the left. It added more depth and interest, so it stayed.
There you have it, that’s my take on this month’s sketch. I do hope you will give it a try yourself.
