I love to make cards, and was very inspired by the celebration of World Card Making Day yesterday! It got me to thinking about how I make cards and how versatile the card canvas can be. And with just a few simple twists, the same design or sketch can be used to create many different kinds of cards that don't look that much alike. Thus you can make a lot of cards fast, or whip one up if you need to in a hurry.
This is the sketch that I designed:
First I started with making it exactly like the sketch using products from the Mother Nature and Eklectique collections.
It is a very fresh and upbeat card, perfect for sending a birthday greeting, or just change the sentiment and it could say "hello", "Thinking of You" or many other appropriate sentiments.
To give the sketch a tiny twist, I just turned the canvas side ways, and then layered the elements above and underneath of the sentiment to take advantage of the great white space that this version provided.
This version is a little more calm, saturated and vintage feeling. Perfect for lots of different types of sentiments. To compliment the clock and warm tones from the Eklectique collection, I used "Get Well Soon" as the sentiment. It would also make a lovely birthday or even sympathy card, let your imagination fill in the blanks!
I would love to see your version of the sketch if you happen to use it! Please just leave a link to your project in the comment section and I will come by and leave some love!
